About Us

Kielder Woodcraft is a small rural business based on the edge of kielder Forest 5 miles from Bellingham in Northumberland. We started our woodworking career 10 years ago. Initially we used woodland thinnings and wind fallen trees to make our products, we still make some one off pieces using wind fallen hardwoods but now mainly use reclaimed wood.

The environment is important to us and therefore we only use reclaimed or wind fallen timber, our products are all unique and no two pieces are identical due to the nature of the materials used.

Over the years we have developed a simple yet beautiful range of furniture and crafts. Using reclaimed wood has been an inspiration to us, with its fantastic character and texture. It is amazing to work with and by sanding the old wood with care it is possible to uncover its rich character.

We enjoy using traditional joinery methods and secure the joints on our large pieces of furniture with large timber pegs. We often leave the timber pegs exposed as this creates a great feature. This type of hand crafted furniture takes much longer to produce and is built to last a life time. We make our furniture to order so please expect a lead time of at least 8 weeks depending on the time of year.

We put a simple wax finish on all our products as this enhances the natural beauty of the wood further. We can produce a pale, medium or a dark finish depending on the customer’s requirements.
